Austria Haus Review

Location: Vail, CO

Style: European

Class: 3 star hotel

Amenities: Spa, ski storage, valet parking, heated pool and hot tub, breakfast, WiFi, and gym

What’s nearby? Everything!  Since this hotel is located in Vail Village, everything in the village and lionshead are within walking distance.

What I Enjoyed: It’s difficult to find a reasonable price hotel in Vail Village, and this is one of the few.  The atmosphere is charming and makes you feel like you are in a European town.  The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable.

What I did not enjoy: My boyfriend is over 6′ tall and the shower head was too low for him.  The decor of this hotel is very traditional and adds to it’s European charm but the curtains are very outdated.

Would I stay again? Yes!  You can’t beat the price and location.

Price: Vail is notorious for skyrocketing prices during the winter. During the Summer, expect to spend about $200 per night.  During the Winter, expect to spend about $500 per night.

German & Austrian

What to order: Cheese Plate and Bratwurst Plate

What I love about it: This is the only traditional German restaurant I’ve found in Colorado. The atmosphere is casual and the food is amazing!

What to order: Toro Tartare and Wagyu

What I love about it: The food is amazing and presented beautifully. They have unique items on the menu that are hard to find elsewhere, such as the Wagyu from Japan.  This is a high end restaurant but the price tag is worth it.

What to order: Brick Chicken

What I love about it: After a long day of skiing or shopping this restaurant is perfect for a cozy dinner. They have comfort foods on the menu and a cozy atmosphere.

Tavern on the Square

What to order: Tuna Poke

What I love about it: I never thought I’d find delicious poke in Colorado, but I did!  They have something on the menu for everyone.  If you are with a large party, this place is ideal and would please everyone.
