Salsa Recipe

I am so excited to be sharing this recipe! I LOVE salsa, so I like to think my salsa recipe is the best.  I’ll let you decide that.  This recipe is so easy!  It’s perfect for parties, to top tacos with, or to have chips and salsa as a snack.

Ingredients

6 Tomatoes

2 Cloves of Garlic

1/2 Red Onion

1-3 Jalapenos (depending on how spicy you want it)

1 Cup Cilantro

Distilled White Vinegar to taste

1/2 Lemon  Juiced

Salt to taste

Small can of V8 Juice (if needed)

Liquid Smoke to taste

Directions

  1. In a large blender, blend onion, garlic, jalapenos, and cilantro.
  2. Add tomatoes, lemon juice, a splash of vinegar, and salt.  Blend.
  3. Add V8 juice if the salsa is pink. Start with about of a cap full of liquid smoke and mix.

Tips

Using vine ripened tomatoes is best.

I always blend the ingredients that I want to be finer first.  I like the tomato to be a little chunky, so I blend that the second time.  This is also why I select the mix option instead of blending after I’ve blended in the tomato.

V8 juice does not add any flavor.  I like to add a small can to change the color of the salsa.

Ideally I’d have a smoker to smoke the vegetables but I don’t, so I use liquid smoke.  Liquid smoke is VERY potent so it’s important to start with a small amount an build it up. I also suggest starting with a small amount of vinegar and building it up.

I know it sounds weird to add vinegar but I promise it brings out the flavors.  The lemons juice will also bring out the flavors.

Control Corrective Hydrant Stabilizer Review

I’ve been using the Control Corrective Oil Free Sunscreen for years.  It is the only truly oil free sunscreen I’ve found that I can wear under makeup.  It’s also the only face sunscreen I’ve found that doesn’t break me out.  So if I LOVE that product so much why haven’t I tried other Control Corrective products? I have no idea!  I recently bought the Sulfur Mask (full review to come) and the Hydrant Stabilizer.

The Hydrant Stabilizer is unlike any moisturizer I’ve ever used.  I’ve never tried a moisturizer that my skin absorbs so quickly.  Generally speaking, gel moisturizers are easy for skin to absorb but this one is absorbed almost instantly and leaves no greasy traces on this skin.  For that reason, this would be a perfect daytime or nighttime moisturizer.  Coming from an oily skin girl, I would not be afraid to use this under my makeup.

Even though my skin absorbs it instantly I still feel it keeps my skin moisturized for a long period of time.  The product claims it is good for excessively dry skin.  However, I cannot attest to that since I have oily skin.  I can say that it is perfect for oily skin!  The name really is accurate.  It’s moisturizing and I feel it prevents my skin from getting oily.

I have very sensitive skin and this not only doesn’t irritate my skin but it is actually calming like it claims.  Basically any time I put a product on my skin, my skin will turn a little red for a few seconds.  This is the only product I’ve ever used that doesn’t have that effect on my skin.

This recipe is so delicious served with falafel.  I like to buy frozen falafel from Trader Joe’s to serve with this salad.
