5PM Wedding Ceremony Day Of Timeline

I found that the hardest thing about wedding planning was compiling a day of timeline. Before I get into the timeline, I want to say that it’s OKAY to not follow your timeline exactly. The only things that are really time sensitive are being ready on time and starting the ceremony roughly on time. Other than that, if something doesn’t happen at the exact time you plan it to, no one will notice and it won’t effect your day.

Below is my wedding day timeline for a 5pm ceremony time. Keep in mind we didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen which saved a lot of time when taking photos and getting ready. I did get my hair professionally done off site and I did my own makeup. You should also note that the “getting ready time” is for taking photos of us getting ready. We were already dressed. I should also mention that our wedding was at the top of the mountain in Vail and the reception was at the bottom of the mountain. It took about 15 minutes to get up or down the mountain.

9:15-10:15am Bridal Makeup

2:15pm Bridal Bouquet Delivery

2:30pm Vendors can set up the reception

2:30pm Bride and Bride’s Mother get dressed

3-4:30pm 1st look and Family Photos

5:05pm Ceremony Starts (for a typical wedding you probably don’t need to start the ceremony later than the time given to your guests HOWEVER our ceremony site required taking the gondola and we wanted to allow a little extra time for guests to find it and get seated)

5:20pm Ceremony Concludes

5:20pm Guest leave for the reception

5:20-6:30pm Bride and Groom Take Photos

5:30-6:30pm Cocktail Hour

6:30pm Guest move into the reception room and find their seats

6:35pm Bride and Groom make entrance into the reception and Groom makes a welcome toast

6:40pm Dinner Begins

7:20pm Father of the Bride Speech

7:25pm Brother of the Groom Speech

7:30pm Cut Cake

8pm Bride and Groom 1st Dance

9:45pm Bride and Groom Exit

10pm Reception Concludes

10-11pm Reception Break Down

We chose not to partake in some wedding traditions like the garter toss and bouquet toss because I personally feel it’s usually tacky.
